Character Information
Name: King
Canon: One-Punch Man
Canon Point: Chap 93 (of ONE webcomic, but also uses the manga for further expansion)
Age: 29
History: Wiki Link, History + Plot (is pulled from the Monster Association Arc)
Personality:
To the outside world, King is an enigmatic, intimidating force of nature. The world thinks he's the strongest man in the world, able to defeat monsters without effort. When in public he stands with a powerful aura, his expression always stoic, and its harsh edges and massive scar inspiring fear and respect. Many monsters and criminals when faced with his looming figure and the rumbling of the so-called "King Engine" will give up without a fight. His reputation is so great and taken so for granted that even other S-Class heroes accept his strength without question and respect, and the Hero's Association seems to not question it.
Which is for the best for King, because if they all did question it and pay attention to him they'd find this is all sham. While he seems to have a larger build and can carry himself like a beefy man, he's not well-built and not strong at all. He has no supernatural abilities, either. He is just a normal joe, a nerd, and a bit of a shut in, preferring to remain in his apartment and play his video games than do any Hero Association duties.
He's extremely cowardly, and it sometimes leads him down the wrong choice path, like abandoning citizens when confronted with a massive robot that wanted to fight him for research purposes. He's often able to keep his frightened freak outs inside, keeping his face a mask of glowering sterness, trying to exude that powerful aura to frighten people away. He isn't able to control his terrified heart beat, though, and it gets louder and louder the more he's confronted, so loud people can hear it, but people will mistake it as a sign of him "revving up his engine" for a fight.
Despite his dishonesty and his cowardice, he isn't a bad man. He doesn't commit any crimes, nor approves of them, but probably isn't going to vocally lecture anyone too soon about crimes they commit. He has simple enjoyments in his life, loving a cute dating sims or beating people on a fighting game, but he's easily embarrassed over his nerdy loves, especially when it comes to those dating sims. He's socially awkward and prefers privacy and solitude, is a bit of a push-over and isn't very confrontational. Like, when he meets Saitama he's polite, even though Saitama had technically broken into his apartment and all like a total creep. He even gives him a juice box. However, when he realizes Saitama was the man that had saved him when he was attacked by a monster that left him scarred, and also the man that had defeated a lot of the monsters King has credit for, King is grateful and befriends him, letting him come over and hang out and play games.
Like many people whose lives Saitama has touched, he's inspired to be a better person and hero, thooooough that's pretty slow going. But during the Monster Association big fight, he could have run away and hide at any time, but manages to stick around and bluff his way into buying time with some of the enemies for other heroes to come take care of things. Then he ran and hid.
Abilities: He's adept at bluffing at being more scary and powerful than he really is; able to keep his terror inside for longer than one would expect and keep an air of tough calmness until he's out of view. His ability to bluff is good enough he's able to fool a lot of actually-powerful heroes, monsters, and the association--though, he obviously won't fool everyone, especially if they're not from his world and wouldn't know his reputation.
Otherwise, he has no other real abilities, other than being good enough at video games he used to make money off winning tournaments before joining the Hero's Association. His talent at it isn't specifically quantified, but it's hinted he's rather quite good.
Strengths: Compelling, Caring, Prudent, Amicable, Thoughtful
Weaknesses: Deceitful, Cowardly, Anti-social, Awkward, Guarded
God/Shinki: God
Why?: He is seen as a king of heroes but he truly isn't, but like many people that met Saitama, he is inspired to be a better hero. Sorta. Look, it's hard not being a coward. However, he is a good guy at heart and deserves something redemptive, and being a god and trying to help in some way while in a position of power like this may do him so good.
Top 3 Choices:
Averruncus
Janus
Issitoq
God Type: He will want to be a good and helpful god, if he can get over his issues. Fortunately, it seems many prayers that need answering aren't all about fighting, so he will likely try for those, despite social awkwardness. Assuming the gods before him were good fellas he would try to aspire to be like them.
God Power
Power: Good Luck (I don't know how much specificity you'd like. But I'd be fine if it's good luck that just follows him, keeping him safe from harm ((like a fireball is thrown at him and he trips on his shoelace so he isn't hit)) and making him look more heroic than he is, like back home. Power can influence others if he's touching them.)
